A COMMUNITY grants program will help support local community groups and organisations by making funding available for community strengthening projects, according to its Chairman Henry Da Silva.
Altona, Laverton/Altona Meadows and Point Cook Community Bank branches will launch their community grants program on Thursday 1 August at the Laverton Community Hub.
“Our community grants program is open to local community groups, organisations and not-for-profits to implement community projects and infrastructure,” Mr Da Silva said.
“Thanks to the support of our customers, we are delighted to be able to provide significant funding to help our communities.”
Over the last 12 years, the Community Bank branches have contributed more than $2.1 million to communities through sponsorships, donations, community grants and projects.
Mr Da Silva said the upcoming launch would provide valuable information on how local groups could apply for a community grant.
He said priority will be given to groups in the Altona, Laverton/Altona Meadows and Point Cook areas.
Last year, 16 local groups including the Laverton Community Centre, shared in $50,000 from our community grants program, he said.
The community grant meant that the centre was able to run a Being Men emotional awareness program for young boys.
The program launch will start at 7pm at the Laverton Community Hub at 95-105 Railway Avenue, Laverton.
