AN INSPIRATIONAL primary school teacher hopes her experience on stage and on the dance floor will help her students to become inspired by the performing arts.
Melton resident Kelli Brogan has been singing and dancing for over 20 years and recently decided to take up acting classes.
“I always wanted to get into acting and I always tell my students to take a risk … so I thought I should practice what I preach,” she told Star.
“I always tell my students to take every opportunity because you never know what will happen … the worst thing is someone will say no and that’s not so bad.”
The Killara Primary School teacher with a “give it a go” attitude said she starred in commercials as a youngster but gave it up to pursue a ballroom dancing career in which she won three national titles.
Now, at 37, she has decided to try her hand at the big screen again and is a member of Screen Actors Australia.
“I’m not really sure about the future. Acting is something I would love to do and it’s a great way to get experience and teach the kids.”
What she is sure about is that the bright lights and the silver screen are not nearly as important as making a difference as a teacher.
“If I can just inspire one child, then my job is done … we need to give kids as much opportunity when they’re young so they can flourish when they’re older and can be whatever they want to be.”
