Underage car chase rage

By ALESHA CAPONE
THREE teenagers have been arrested after a high-speed car chase through Hobsons Bay on Friday.
The Victoria Police Air Wing and the Dog Squad also helped chase down the law-breaking trio.
The incident began when police detected a vehicle travelling along Osbourne St, Williamstown at 134 km per hour in a 50km/h zone.
Hobsons Bay Highway Patrol officers attempted to intercept the vehicle and a description of the car was distributed around to the area’s police.
Police said around 10 minutes later a uniformed patrol located the vehicle in the Altona North area but terminated their pursuit due to the offender’s excessive speeding.
However, the Air Wing followed the car into Altona Meadows where two males got out in Linden St and were arrested.
The two passengers were both aged 16 years and residents of Altona Meadows.
Later on the driver dumped the vehicle in Orville St and fled the scene but the Air Wing continued to hunt him.
The Dog Squad also began searching nearby houses and yards and located an Altona North male who police said was aged around 16 years.
The stolen car driver has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, conduct endangering life and several other traffic offences.
Sergeant Stephen Bosnar from Laverton Police Station said the car was allegedly stolen after one of the youths broke into a house and stole the keys while the occupants were asleep.
Sgt Bosnar said the driver of the stolen vehicle did not have a licence or “any real experience to be driving at these speeds”.
The car which the youths took had also been stolen from a Coburg address a few weeks prior and will now be returned to the owner.
The passengers were interviewed and released after their arrest.
