IF history repeats itself, the State Government looks set to retain all its seats across Brimbank at the election.
The Kororoit electorate, made up of Albanvale, Caroline Springs, Kings Park and parts of Deer Park, Rockbank, St Albans and Truganina, has the ALP’s Marlene Kairouz as its representative.
Liberal candidate Goran Kesic would need a swing of 25.6 per cent to take the seat.
Also running are the Greens’ Anastasia Smietanka, Melton councillor Kathy Majdlik and Glenn Rozec of Family First.
The electorate which needs the next biggest swing for Labor to lose its safe seat is Footscray, which covers parts of Brooklyn and Sunshine.
Sitting member Marsha Thomson will compete against Liberal Ken Betts, who needs a swing of 24.7 per cent in his favour.
Also standing are Janet Rice from the Greens, Maribyrnong councillor Catherine Cumming and Social Alliance member Margarita Windisch.
In Derrimut, sitting MP Telmo Languiller from the ALP will contest against Liberal candidate Wayne Tseng, who requires a 24.3 per cent swing.
Also competing for the seat, which extends to Albion, Ardeer, Derrimut, Sunshine North, Sunshine West, Deer Park, St Albans and Sunshine, are the Greens’ Geraldine Brooks, Colin Moyle from Family First and Michael Deverala from the Democratic Labor Party.
In Niddrie, which covers Kealba, Keilor East, Keilor Park and parts of Keilor and Tullamarine, sitting MP Rob Hulls could be ousted by a swing of 11.2 per cent to the Liberals.
So far in the election campaign, the State Government has promised to upgrade and build new schools in West Sunshine, Deer Park and Cairnlea.
The ALP and the Liberals have also promised millions of dollars to upgrade the notorious St Albans railway crossing in Main Rd.
Mr Hulls has promised to upgrade the Milleara Rd pedestrian crossing in Keilor with traffic lights for $300,000.
The Greens have said they would extend the route 57 tram to East Keilor and also add new train stations at East Keilor and Sunshine North.
