CAROLINE Springs was the place to be on the weekend, with thousands flocking to Lakeside Live 2012.
The event kicked off on Saturday evening with a performance from Mowbray College and local band The Pass Outs before ex-Neighbours star Sam Clark and 2008 Australian Idol winner Wes Carr took the stage.
Characters from Channel 9’s ‘Magical Tales’ entertained the little ones, while crowds also enjoyed carnival rides and sideshows, community stalls and the inaugural business expo, as well as plenty of food and fun.
The night concluded with a spectacular fireworks display that had the crowd ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’.
Caroline Springs Police praised the crowd for their “excellent” behaviour.
Melton Shire’s Customer Engagement Manager Daniel Hogan said around 30,000 people turned out for the big event.
“We were really lucky with the weather and it was a wonderful night of family entertainment,” Mr Hogan said.
“The range of children’s activities proved popular, as did the main stage performers with Sam Clark and Wes Carr drawing large crowds.”
