LIFE’S a hoot for Altona Meadows artist Katherine Dine who is a compulsive collector of owls.
Be it ornaments, pictures or earrings the feathered creatures capture her imagination and are the focus of her exhibition at Cada Net in Williamstown.
The exhibition “Owl Ya Doin?” features stencilled images of her favourite owls from among her collection.
Ms Dine said the show explored domestic obsessions that many people developed over their lives.
Ms Dine started her own obsession about three years ago when she rediscovered a pair of small owl earrings, she now has about 40 owls.
“Now my house is full of owls. I see them everywhere – they seem to be in fashion which is not doing so well on my bank account.
“The owl represents wisdom and that’s kind of an additional bonus, I like them because they’re kind of cute and kind of retro.”
Ms Dine began stencilling when she took part in the Laverton Street Art Project.
Her skill secured her the Hobsons Bay Reward and Recognition award.
“Owl Ya Doin?” is being held as part of the Art in Public Places series of events.
The exhibition will be held at Cada Net, 86 Douglas Pde, Williamstown until 19 April.
