ALTONA Life Saving Club will benefit from a $60,000 State Government grant derived from the proceeds of the 1964 sale of the Melbourne Sailors’ Home.
The fund was set up in 1986 to promote the welfare of sailors and people working in fishing or maritime industries in Victoria.
Altona was one of nine clubs around the state to receive funding.
A total of $350,000 was also allocated to Life Saving Victoria to improve the capabilities of volunteer lifesavers.
