A LEARNER driver made a poor start to his driving life after being nabbed flying at 147 kilometres in a 90km zone in Truganina last week.
The 19-year-old was one of several drivers caught flouting the speed limits when police intercepted his white XR6 Falcon sedan on Dohertys Rd last Tuesday.
“Corio Highway Patrol members intercepted the vehicle and found the 19-year-old male learner without an experienced driver, only two male friends aged 21 and 18 in the car,” a police spokesperson said.
The car was impounded and the teenager from Altona North was expected to be charged on summons.
Just one day earlier two vehicles were impounded at the same time after being caught at 126km in a 70 zone.
A 29 year old Wyndham Vale man and a 20 year old P Plater from Hoppers Crossing, were travelling east along Point Cook Homestead Rd on the way to work, when they were detected by police.
Police were targeting speeding drivers upon receiving numerous complaints about speeding drivers in the area.
Both drivers had their cars impounded on the spot for 30 days, and will be forced to pay $711 to get their cars out, as well as both being charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km.
Earlier in the morning a 33 year-old Point Cook man was detected at 107km in a 70 zone and was fined $458, had his licence suspended for six months and lost six demerit points.
