Party out of control

SUNSHINE police are urging youths to avoid advertising parties on Facebook after an 18th birthday spiralled out of control this month.
Seven police units were deployed to shut down the booze-fuelled gathering which attracted large amounts of youths in Carey St Sunshine North on 13 May.
Police were called to the house party around 10.40pm after unwelcome party crashers assaulted and threatened several guests.
One of the party-goers, a 20-year-old man from Kealba was struck in the head with a glass bottle by several men outside the party, who also stole his mobile phone. He suffered lacerations to the head and was taken to hospital. Shortly after, another guest, a 17-year-old boy from Caroline Springs also had his mobile phone stolen by a male offender who threatened to stab the terrified teenager.
Police, who were called to the scene and shut down the party, believe the party got out of control after it was publicly advertised on social networking website Facebook. It is the second time violence has erupted at a Brimbank party in recent weeks, with several people stabbed during another house party in St Albans on the same weekend.
