Littering fine

A TAYLORS Lakes man was fined $3000 after pleading guilty to littering.
Thomas Cassar and Point Cook resident Stanley Urch were taken to court by Wyndham City Council after being caught illegally dumping timber on private property.
Each man was fined $3000 and ordered to pay the council’s legal costs.
The incident was one of three recent cases involving Wyndham Council.
In two of the cases, residents caught the offenders in the act, taking photos of their licence plates and reporting them to the council.
Wyndham mayor John Menegazzo said he hoped the court rulings would send a strong message that littering would not be tolerated.
“While it’s incredibly disappointing people continue to illegally dump material, it’s pleasing to see the court impose fines on those caught,” Cr Menegazzo said.
“It also gives residents and visitors to the area a negative perception of Wyndham.”
