DEER PARK resident Steven Haar is proving the naysayers wrong and following his dream to stardom.
Mr Haar has been working hard over the years as a producer and actor despite many people saying he could never make it.
“I remember growing up in primary school and high school I wasn’t really a popular individual, I had a lot of people tell me I couldn’t and wouldn’t,” Mr Haar said.
“But now I finally have a chance to prove them wrong,” he said.
“No matter how many people try to burn your dreams, just follow your dreams and don’t give up,” he advised.
Mr Haar has a resume full of feature films, short movies and screenplays that he has been involved with including Plan 9, Dante’s Inferno and M Is for Malarkey.
His next big project is as Associate Producer for the Australian feature film ‘Born to Rock’, which he will also have a small acting role in.
“I’ve always wanted to entertain and make people laugh and make people happy,” Mr Haar said.
The movie stars the Australian band Mystery and will screen at the Astor Theatre in St Kilda on 24 April.
Mr Haar is excited to have also been invited to France for the Cannes Film Festival where the film will be featured.
“I love working overseas – it’s a dream come true,” he said.
But as much as he loves the international projects Mr Haar said he enjoyed staying at home and working on local projects with local talent to promote Australia too.
His goal is to continue making films on both sides of the camera to entertain people for a long time still.
