Three arrests as gun, drugs seized

THREE western suburbs men have been arrested by police as part of a major raid against members of the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.
Victoria Police’s Echo Taskforce arrested 13 members and associates of the bikie gang following the execution of search warrants on Wednesday 12 February.
Logo Afuie, a 27-year-old man from Tarneit was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, six counts of trafficking a drug of dependence and six counts of possessing a drug of dependence.
Cuong Hoang, a 28-year old man from St Albans was also charged with four counts of trafficking a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence and four counts of possessing a drug of dependence.
Michael Barbaro, a 54-year-old man from Sydenham was charged with two counts of trafficking a drug of dependence, two counts of possessing a drug of dependence and possessing a firearm.
The men faced an out of sessions court hearing last week and were remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
The men were arrested in Taylors Lakes following a three-month investigation into drug and weapon trafficking.
Detective Inspector Ian Campbell said more than 700 grams of amphetamines and a large, military grade gun had been seized.
“If you’re actively involved large-scale commercial drug trafficking and firearms trafficking, then Victoria Police will take a very strong stance against you,” Det Insp Campbell said.
