TWO Werribee friends who have tasted musical success are hoping to be able to pass their knowledge onto the next generation of musicians.
Ben Downing and Daniel Molivas grew up together before joining the band Masketta Fall, a pop rock group that has toured Australia and overseas.
At just 24 years of age, they both decided that they wanted to turn their attention towards recording and song writing, so last week they officially opened one of the only recording studios in Wyndham.
“We’ve both grown up in this scene and we’ve learned a lot about the industry so we thought this would be a good chance to give back to other musicians,” Mr Downing told Star.
“There’s not much in the local area for local artists to record their music in. This is all about taking the music of other young artists to the next level.”
Known as Afterglow Music Production, the Werribee recording studio will provide a place for musicians to record songs while also offering song writing services.
Masketta Fall are well known for their strong social media presence, racking up almost 15,000 followers on twitter, a skill that Mr Downing said he would bring across to his new venture.
“I think one of the best things about this is that when you are in a band there are a lot of seasonal things that can affect it,” he said.
“This is something that we’ve wanted to do for a long time and it will allow us to work in the music industry long term.”
Mr Downing said his dream would be to discover one of the next big names in the music industry.
