$50,000 fine for contimated food

A MAGISTRATE has ordered a Carrum Downs food manufacturer to pay $50,000 after a bloodied Band-Aid was found in a sesame bar bought at a supermarket in Hobsons Bay.
Sentosa Health Foods pleaded guilty in the Sunshine Magistates’ Court to the sale of unsafe food.
Hobsons Bay City Council took the company to court after an investigation by the council’s environmental health officers, who found Sentosa was not meeting food safety standards.
The company was also ordered to pay Hobsons Bay City Council costs of $12,000.
