Messages pound pavements

By Kirsty Ross
CATCHING up with friends, conversations on the move and smiling at the person next to you are some of the catchphrases of local playful pink and white pavement sketches.
The messages are scattered across Hobsons Bay and aim to bring people together – in a healthy, physically active way.
The VicHealth Taking It to the Streets campaign will run from October to March 2007.
Deputy mayor Leigh Hardinge said about 100 stencilled messages would appear across Hobsons Bay with slogans such as “sharing stories” next to public seating, or “staying in contact” next to letterboxes.
The Taking It to the Streets campaign was launched on Thursday to coincide with Children’s Week, Community Health Week, Men’s Health Month, Refugee Week and the opening of the recently refurbished Brooklyn Hall.
