THEY look too cool for school, but talented siblings Kimberley and James Mifsud are top dance instructors with two studios to their name.
Aged 20 and 22, the brother and sister have taught for years at the No Limits Dance House in Delahey, and recently opened their second studio in Keilor East.
In addition to their dancing commitments, they are both studying a Bachelor of Education at university.
“Life for us is being a student during the day and a teacher at night,” James said.
“I enjoy watching the kids we teach grow up and they achieve a lot, and stay with you for a while.
“We find some, as they grow up, become more confident and able to communicate well.
“In my own experience, dance helps you discover who you are and helps you become able to speak to the community.”
James said he hoped to teach secondary school students in the future, while Kimberley hopes to teach primary pupils.
“It can be rewarding knowing you can have an impact on them and help them out,” Kimberley said.
While the brother and sister teach hip-hop, they are also trained in classical dance forms such as ballet, jazz and contemporary.
“Performing is just the best. When you are onstage, it is your world,” Kimberley said.
“It is also being creative, I think it is amazing what the human body can do.”
The siblings said they named their studios No Limits Dance House because of their philosophy in life.
“Being young and doing it on our own, there are no limits to what we can achieve,” Kimberley said.
