Police bust burglary spree

A GROUP of teenagers, including young three Brimbank residents, have been “busted” after a burglary spree in the western suburbs.
Maribyrnong Police Inspector Tony Long said “sharp work” by detectives led to the teens getting arrested in the Footscray CBD on a recent weekend.
As a result of the arrests, a 14-year-old from Kings Park has been charged with five burglaries and bailed to appear at the Sunshine Children’s Court.
In addition, a 15-year-old Sunshine resident has been interviewed in relation to handling stolen goods but released pending further inquiries.
A 14-year-old from Ashwood, located in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, has been charged with seven burglaries and was bailed to the Sunshine Children’s Court.
A Sunshine man, 18, was charged with handling stolen goods and bailed to front the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court.
Another 18-year-old male, who lives in Melton, was charged with five burglaries and remanded in custody.
Insp Long said three of the teenagers allegedly broke into three residences in Elphinstone St, Footscray West on Wednesday 12 June.
