SYDENHAM Catholic Regional College is as proud of its students as any parent would be of their kids.
To celebrate their students the school held Sydfest, a night highlighting student achievement during the past decade.
Sports, arts, trades and technology work was on display last Thursday as visitors admired the works of the students before hearing a talk from fitness expert Tiffany Hall.
Deputy Principal Jeff Mulcahy said students also put on theatrical and musical performances for the crowd of around 500 people.
“The students whose work and talents are on display, it’s a great way of sharing that with their parents,” Mr Mulcahy said.
“Their parents aren’t in the classroom so they’re not seeing what the students are doing.”
He said works included fashion pieces, engineering displays, artworks, baking, signage and woodworks created by students.
Mr Mulcahy said the school chose Ms Hall to speak to the group and present awards because she “suited the theme of the night” of being the “best you can be”.
Best known for her role as a trainer on the Biggest Loser and the role of Angel in the television show Gladiator, Ms Hall spoke about empowerment, confidence and achieving goals.
Ms Hall also shared experiences about her work as a personal trainer, martial arts competitor and author.
Previous speakers at the event include swimmer Michael Klim and basketballer Chris Anstey.
