War waged on graffiti

BRIMBANK residents are taking the fight against graffiti seriously, with many residents obtaining graffiti removal vouchers from the council.
Since the Graffiti Removal Assistance Program began in March, Brimbank Council has assisted more than 40 residents to clear graffiti from their private property.
Each voucher, worth $80, entitles the holder to a kit which includes a 500ml graffiti remover, four litres of exterior paint and a paint roller.
There is a limit of one voucher per household, and each voucher is valid for 12 months.
The council encourages residents to remove any graffiti to private property as quickly as possible as it is often easier to clean and also deters vandals from re-tagging because it limits the exposure time of the piece or tag.
If graffiti on private or commercial property is highly visible and accessible, the council will remove it without charge. However, if an officer is required to trespass on private land it cannot be removed.
