POLICE are seeking public assistance to track down a man who attempted to lure children away from a park in Brookfield.
The incident occured on 9 December last year, an male approached three children who were playing in the reserve and bike path area in Clarkes Rd between Manooka Rd and Botanica Springs Boulevard.
The male attempted to get the children to leave the area with him and put his hands on the youngest of the three children.
When the oldest child objected the man fled the scene.
“The male attempted to entice the children away from the area by asking them to go to a party with him and also asked them to try on some clothing that he had carried to the location,” Melton CIU Detective Leading Senior Constable John Hageman said.
“The clothing included male and female adult clothing as well as a children’s wallet.
“The male began to massage the shoulders of the youngest child which is when his older brother objected and the offender fled the scene.”
Det Ldg Sen Const Hageman sent out an email last week requesting help from the public to locate a man who may be able to assist them in their inquiries.
“I am seeking the assistance from the media in relation to the investigation of an attempted child stealing, I have exhausted all avenues of inquiries at this stage and need assistance from the public,” the email read.
Police released a FACE image which is said to be a 75 per cent likeness of the man. He was wearing a blue bomber style jacket, a blue baseball cap with a red coloured symbol on the front, a red coloured shirt and was described as speaking with a rough voice.
Police believe that he may not have had a vehicle at the time of the incident.
