EVERY vintage vehicle that passes through Garage Classics doors has a story to tell, and each one is as unique as the next.
Leigh Goodall is the owner of Williamstown’s Garage Classics Café, an automotive museum that features timeless British, European and American cars and motorcycles from the 1920s – 1970s.
Mr Goodall acquired his first vehicle, a World War II paratrooper-motorcycle, as a reward from his father for mowing and gardening as a young boy and from there his fascination grew.
“I’ve always had a passion to show vehicles and tell their stories, I love the story of transport and the impact it has had on humanity as far as socially, transport and commerce,” Mr Goodal said.
The unique automotive museum, that features an onsite themed café that sells gourmet food, has more than 20 vehicles on display a collection that would tickle any motoring enthusiast.
“I feel people are ready to re-embrace what has been lost in driving for pleasure, even if it is for a hobby, club and family outing.”
The most famous car on display at the museum is a 1912 Rolls-Royce Ghost.
Mr Goodall said there was only one model of its kind left in the world and that sold for 7.2 million a few years ago.
“That’s where Rolls Royce gained a name for supreme engineering in cars.”
The business is a family affair with his daughter Anna running the gourmet café.
“The food the environment is what we’re offering. The café has a very special atmosphere it’s a place to relax or have a business lunch.”
Garage Classics Café/Museum is located at 400 Kororoit Creek Rd, North Williamstown.
A cover charge of $5 applies. The museum is open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3pm or by appointment.
