Residents wanting to burn off must obtain a permit from the local council’s municipal fire prevention officer. The fire restriction period also places conditions on barbecuing.
She said people are allowed to have barbecues as long as the area where they are cooking has a safe area of three metres’ around and above the barbecue that is clear from any flammable materials.
