POLICE seized drugs and weapons after executing a search warrant on an Ardeer property last Tuesday.
Just after midday, officers from the Altona North Crime Response Unit, the Drug Squad’s Clandestine Laboratory section and the Special Operations Group raided the North St premises.
In addition to recovering an amount of drugs and weapons, they also discovered a number of chemicals which can be used to manufacture drugs.
The “ammonia and phosphorus-based products” required specialist removal by the Clandestine Laboratory officers.
After the raid, a 43-year-old male was questioned by police and later remanded in custody for manufacturing methylamphetamines and on other drug-related offences.
Senior Sergeant Fred Grove from Sunshine Police Station said the operation was “rather successful”.
“These types of places pose not only a danger to the person, but to neighbouring properties, through the possibility of explosion when using highly volatile and highly poisonous chemicals,” he said.
