Missing in action

WE are really grateful to the Labor Party, and to you Mr Telmo Languiller, for representing us in Parliament all these years. It is really wonderful to see how you stand in support of the ordinary people of Sunshine.
Earlier this year in April, when Powercor began erecting 15-metre poles for some new high voltage powerlines to go through our local area, I immediately came to visit your office to discuss the issue and ask for your support.
I talked to you and you visited the Ridgeway Parade kindergarten where you spoke to the kindergarten director who also expressed concerns. From that point on we have heard nothing from our representative and you have not attended one of our community meetings or expressed support for our campaign.
Instead we have heard that you have had private meetings with Powercor and Peter Batchelor’s office, it appears, not to bring the concerns of the community to Powercor, but to concoct a plan to make the residents ’embarrassing’ public concerns go away.
The day of our community meeting where we heard about three new options for running the powerlines from Powercor, a few residents’ received a letter from you, Mr Languiller, outlining your support for Powercor’s proposal and dated before our community had even learned of these proposals – so without discussing anything with us, you have been hawking Powercor’s plan. Instead of getting support and assistance from our Labor representative who we thought was supposed to care about the rights of those less powerful, we have nothing but stonewalling and deception.
John Kodric,
Sunshine West.
