HOBSONS Bay residents can now recycle their old mobiles and accessories at their nearest Salvos Stores to help raise much needed funds for The Salvation Army.
Salvos Stores will receive $2 for every kilogram of mobiles and accessories collected in-store at MobileMuster collection boxes.
Hobsons Bay residents will not only give Salvos Stores a helping hand when they recycle their old mobiles, they will also be helping to keep the estimated 22 million old and unused mobiles in people’s drawers and cupboards out of landfill.
MobileMuster recycling manager of Rose Read outlined how important this partnership with Salvos Stores is to the mobile phone industry.
“By increasing the drop-off points in the Hobsons Bay area and throughout Australia through Salvos Stores we are making it easier for everyone to do the right thing and recycle their old mobiles in the safest and most ethical way possible,” Ms Read said.
“The Salvation Army does great work providing meaningful support services to marginalised and disadvantaged Australians and we are very humbled to work closely with them in this great cause.”
The environmental benefits of recycling all 22 million mobiles would be equal to planting 86,000 trees and taking 4,000 cars off the road.
A recent research report from MobileMuster has shown that two out of five Australians have two or more old mobiles that they don’t use and over a third of these mobiles are five or more years old.
MobileMuster is the official recycling program of the mobile phone industry in Australia.
Hobsons Bay residents can now recycle their old mobiles and accessories at the Salvos Store located at Units 1 and 2 308 Kororoit Creek Rd, Williamstown.
