MORE than 500 people marched for melanoma in Williamstown last Sunday afternoon, armed with hats, sunscreen and a heightened awareness of a disease that kills more than 1000 Australians every year. March for Melanoma, a 4km walk or 8km run, kicked off with a warm-up at Commonwealth Reserve at 4pm.
The crowd, including Western Bulldogs players and coaches, moved along the water’s edge and back for a free Melanoma Music Concert to highlight the importance of early detection of melanoma. Former Williamstown resident Louise White organised the event in honour of her daughter, Emily Tapp, who recently died from a malignant melanoma.
