HOBSONS Bay pet owners are invited to the next RSPCA microchipping day in Williamstown.
Cost per pet is $25 and owners are then eligible for a reduced pet registration fee with the council.
The microchipping day will be held at the Mechanics Institute, 5 Electra St, Williamstown, on Thursday, 15 February, from 3pm to 7pm.
No bookings are required.
Mayor Leigh Hardinge urged pet owners to make the most of the opportunity.
“A microchip is your pet’s permanent form of identification … you are almost guaranteeing their safe return should they go missing,” he said.
“The procedure is quick and simple, with a microchip the size of a grain of rice being injected just under the skin.
“The procedure doesn’t hurt the animal any more than a normal vaccination and means that the likelihood of your pet being returned significantly increases.”
