SOUTH Western Melbourne Medicare Local (SWMML) is looking for people who want to have their say on local health services.
SWMML is looking for people from the cities of Hobsons Bay and Wyndham with an interest in health and improving the patient journey to join their Consumer Advisory Committee.
The committee plays an important role advising the SWMML Board to ensure that residents’ voices are recognised and reflected in health service delivery, planning and policy development.
SWMML’s chief executive officer Gaylene Coulton said the organisation was looking for people with diverse cultural backgrounds who lived in the region and wanted to contribute to a healthier community.
“If you live in the Wyndham or Hobsons Bay area and want to make a difference about local health, then I urge you to put your hand up to join our Consumer Advisory Committee,” Ms Coulton said.
“We have two vacancies for members of the community who can bring their personal health experiences and local knowledge to the table, and help us better respond to the health needs of south western Melbourne.”
SWMML is a not-for-profit organisation working with the local community to improve the health of people in the areas of Wyndham and Hobsons Bay.
“We make it easier to navigate the local health care system by addressing health care gaps in the region, supporting local primary health care providers and connecting people with experts and the information they need,” Ms Coulton said.
Applications close on 30 September 2013.
