A TAYLORS Hill teenager is making a name for himself in the aviation industry, but he won’t be satisfied until he is spending his days flying commercial airlines for a living.
Yusuf Fahri, 17, has had a passion for flying since he was a toddler and when he finally got his chance to sit in the pilot’s chair at 15, he was well and truly hooked.
Two years on and the former Mowbray College student is looking forward to a career as a commercial pilot and can boast that he was successful in receiving his pilot’s licence even before attaining his driver’s licence.
“It’s been my ambition since I was two… I think it might just be innate… I was excited to fly the first time, I couldn’t wait,” Yusuf said.
Now a Year 12 student at Catholic Regional College in Sydenham, Yusuf said juggling VCE and his flight training at Pearson Aviation in Essendon can be tough at times, but worth it when he sees the rewards.
“The thrill I get each time I fly is amazing, it is the same each time,” he said.
“Flying planes is for me, there’s nothing else I want to do.
“I really think you can achieve anything at a young age, there’s a natural drive inside of me and when I’m flying I’m at my Yuhappiest.”
