COMMUNITY groups in Hobsons Bay have been encouraged to get in early with their input as Hobsons Bay City Council prepares its next budget.
Hobsons Bay Mayor Michael Raffoul said the new option for formulating the budget would increase community input.
“The council is listening to the community and respecting their need for more consultation on how we allocate money at the start of the budget process,” Cr Raffoul said.
“During October, we will introduce an additional consultation period, which will help develop the budget and shape the future of our city.
“Developing the budget is one of the most important parts of the council’s planning process and includes allocating funds for capital works, youth and family services, community care, libraries, arts and events and recreation.”
Cr Raffoul said the council would collate the community feedback and discuss the findings and the capital works program in November.
“The council will conduct regular budget briefings from February 2012 before the proposed budget is tabled in May 2012.”
To have your say on what is included in the 2012-2013 budget, write to Mr Glenn O’Sullivan, Director Business and Finance, Hobsons Bay City Council, PO Box 21, Altona 3018.
