Grass fires

SUNSHINE MFB is warning residents to plan and prepare for bushfire season after two grassfires in Sunshine North last week.
Both fires broke out in the evening on Bunnett St, with one starting on Sunday 18 and the second fire taking place on the following night.
NuSec security guard Biong Meyer noticed the fire on Monday night at around 7.30pm.
“I saw the fire, start to grow, to grow, to grow,” Mr Meyer said.
“The fire went quickly, with the wind. If the fire brigade hadn’t come immediately it could have burnt out everything. It’s dry grass.”
Firefighters were also called out to a landfill fire at around 3.30pm on Thursday at Bunting Rd in Brooklyn last week. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
MFB Senior Station Officer Mark Riches said both fires were being investigated as suspicious.
