THE man charged with killing Bacchus Marsh woman Sarah Cafferkey was arrested and remanded in custody last week after an extensive man hunt.
Steven Hunter, also from Bacchus Marsh, was arrested by homicide squad detectives last Tuesday at a Hawthorn flat.
The 47-year-old man was remanded following an out of sessions court hearing in relation to the death of Ms Cafferkey. He was charged with one count of murder.
Hunter’s arrest came after Ms Cafferkey’s body was found at a Point Cook home earlier this month. The 22-year-old was reported missing by her mother on 12 November.
It’s alleged Hunter repeatedly stabbed the victim at his Baccus Marsh address on 10 November and then moved the body to a Point Cook address the following day. Police found Ms Cafferkey in a wheelie bin a week later.
Meanwhile, Homocide Squad detectives arrested two more men last week in relation to Ms Cafferkey’s death.
Police arrested both men at a residential property in Tarneit at about midday on Thursday.
The two men, a 32-year-old from Tarneit and a 34-year-old from Point Cook, were released from custody later that evening pending further enquiries.
The investigation into Sarah’s disappearance and death continues.
