HOW’S this for a mouth-watering clash?
Wayne Carey, Chris Johnson, Phil Krakouer, Paul Williams and Aaron Davey going toe-to-toe with Simon Minton-Connell, Nathan Lovett-Murray, Paul Dimattina and Simon Madden.
But there won’t be any high flying marks or magical goals from the boundary line.
These former AFL stars will be joined by other celebrities for the St Albans Sports Club Celebrity Bash cricket match on Sunday.
“We have been inundated with interest which has been great,” St Albans Sports Club administration officer Belinda Keenan said.
“All the players are excited. The uniforms look amazing and everything is coming along really well.
“So far there has really been an incredible response to it. All the celebrities are giving up their time for free. We are really thrilled and hoping it will continue for many years to come.”
The blockbuster match is raising funds for indigenous radio station 3KND and Scope Australia, which helps people with a disability participate in sporting competitions.
“We will be having a gold coin donation bucket throughout the day because it is free entry,” Keenan said.
“At the end of the day we will be auctioning off some signed shirts so if people want to bid for those they can and then we will have a band on at the club rooms at the end of the night. It’s set up to be a great day.”
The Celebrity Bash will kick off at 2pm on Sunday 2 February at Kings Park Reserve, Gillespie Road, St Albans.
