A POLICE pursuit through Melton last Wednesday led to officers discovering dangerous chemicals allegedly for a drug lab hidden in the car.
Dozens of firemen were called in to remove potentially dangerous chemicals from the vehicle, which was dumped in Burnside.
Officers started the chase in Melton early last Wednesday morning when they noticed a stolen car travelling along Exford Rd, but the pursuit was terminated soon after in neighbouring Burnside.
Police then located the stolen vehicle on McGee Close and upon closer inspection discovered hazardous materials inside.
MFB and CFA crews were called to the scene to remove the materials from the car.
Meanwhile, police from the Melton Burglary Unit are appealing for public assistance to locate a stolen jet-ski worth about $7000.
Investigators believe a burglar broke into the garage of a house on Stoke Heath Way in Caroline Springs sometime between 7am and 8pm last Monday week. Once inside, the thieves have stolen a Sea-doo jet-ski, a continental box trailer and a number of power tools.
Police are keen to speak to anyone that may have seen the jet-ski and trailer in the area and have released images of the stolen items.
