A town’s amenity block

By Kirsty Ross
ONE, two, three, four … let me see those spirit fingers.
Similar is the tune brimming out of the rehearsal hall where Williamstown High School’s theatre studies students add the final touches to their latest production, the satirical comedy Urinetown – the musical.
Despite the spirit fingers and singing, the play actually parodies the musical genre, revealing a serious message that the music can’t make things all right after all.
The 55-member, all-year-level school cast will unfold the story of a drought-stricken community where powerful interests control water and consequently, one must “pay to pee”.
The show will run from 18-19 May at the Athenaeum Theatre, 188 Collins St, Melbourne.
Tickets are available from Williamstown High School, Pasco St campus office, or phone 9397 1899 for more details.
