HOBSONS Bay residents have been acknowledged with the naming of the inaugural winners of a new award for people and institutions doing their bit to make the municipality a better place. The volunteer winners were: Merralyn Scholes, for community support; Craig MacCallum, emergency services; Alan Gittins, sport and recreation; the late Joan Craggs, arts and culture; and Geoff Mitchelmore, environment and conservation. The Scienceworks Museum was given an award for innovation.
“The six winners have made outstanding contributions to our municipality in everything from community work to environmental conservation and they are all worthy winners.“
