SHANNA De Brincat has always loved food – whether it’s enjoying a home-cooked meal with her family, or sharing some mezze with friends. It’s her passion.
Like many people, the Keilor Downs resident’s love of food began at a young age and, with the onset of reality cooking shows, grew to the point that she felt compelled to share her dining and cooking experiences with the rest of the world.
Shanna’s blog Green Olive Melbourne was born in March this year and is off to a flying start.
With more than 700 views and comments from renowned Melbourne chef Shane Delia, Shanna is surprised at the positive response.
“It’s pretty exciting. It just started as a little bit of fun,” she said.
“I was always taking photos of food when I was out, so I thought I would give it a go.”
A university student by day, Shanna said she spends a lot of time going out to dinner with friends and will try any food at least once. She also tries anything out in the kitchen.
“I find cooking quite therapeutic. I like to get into the kitchen after a stressful day and use whatever is in the pantry to cook a good meal.”
Shanna’s latest blog post reviews Footscray’s Station Hotel.
“Visitors pile in for a taste of what seems to be the talk of the Footscray community, so be sure to make a booking as tables fill up fast,” the post reads.
“If the dining area does fill up however, there’s always plenty of options with the bar and courtyard areas available for a casual dining experience.
“With so much choice, it can sometimes be hard deciding on which cut to go with, but I assure you no disappointment shall be found.
“As for the sides, I can’t go past the simple green beans or heirloom carrots (but portions are fit for a king and I can never seem to get through everything).
“Also be sure to ask for a serving of Bearnaise on the side!”
