TALENTED students from St Albans Secondary College are ready to show off their latest designs at the 2012 Fashion Awards Australia.
The young fashionistas are encouraged to model their own garments on the runway when they attend the event’s regional finals at the Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre in Hoppers Crossing this Friday.
Three finalists will be chosen from each of the six competition categories to take part in the gala finale presentation next month.
Arts co-ordinator Nick D’Aglas said the fashion awards were a great opportunity for students to gain first-hand experience in the fashion industry.
“They just give it their all. I’m so grateful we have something like this to inspire our students,” Mr D’Aglas said.
Year 11 student Tuan Pham, 17, hopes to become a fashion designer when he graduates from high school.
This will be the second time Tuan has entered the fashion competition and he hopes to wow the judges with his hard work and creativity.
Tuan said he wouldn’t have been able to finish his designs without the help of his teachers.
“We want to say thank you to our teachers because without them we wouldn’t know how to do any of this,” Tuan said.
The gala finale runway show will take place at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on Friday 14 September.
