PLAYERS from the St Albans and Caroline Springs Netball Association have dominated selection in the under 17 and under 19 state sides.
Andrea Tai, Casey Adamson and Libby Birch will represent Victoria in the under 17 age group while Melissa Bragg has been selected for the under 19 division.
The championships will take place in Darwin later this year.
St Albans club coach Bon Tai is rapt for the star quartet and said the opportunity to play representative netball would be a great experience for all the girls.
“It certainly is a good achievement not just for the girls but for the club as a whole,” he said.
“From what I have seen, the quality of training and the interaction and activities that they encounter and participate in really builds on their self-confidence and belief and everything that involves team orientation.
“I have seen the confidence in some of these girls grow over the last couple of weeks and they have been able to engage in a more professional manner.”
From the championships, the national under 17 and under 19 sides will also be chosen.
Tai said he is hopeful more athletes from St Albans and Caroline Springs can reach state and national level in the future.
“That is definitely the one thing that we endeavour to achieve. We coach and encourage our girls to play the sport at the highest level they can,” he said.
“We understand that not every player is going to get through but for a small percentage it is a great achievement.”
The good news doesn’t stop there for St Albans with the club celebrating premierships from two senior sides in the Premier League while the club’s under 15 squad was also a grand final winner.
