MELTON Highway Patrol members are targeting rogue drivers in the municipality.
Melton Highway Patrol’s Leading Senior Constable Allan Edwards said police have been given “a number of recidivist traffic offenders to target” as part of a crackdown on motorists who continue to flout the law.
“Have you noticed police vehicles cruising past your address a little more often than usual lately?” he said.
“It’s not a coincidence.”
Ldg Snr Const Edwards said drivers with extensive driving offences, including drink driving, speeding and disqualified or suspended licence holders who continue to drive would be targeted.
“Some of these people have been nominated by concerned members of the public, through CrimeStoppers, or the Hoon Line, as recidivist offenders, but more often they have been targeted as the result intelligence analysis based on previous driving history and a history of ignoring sanctions imposed by the courts,” he said.
“Police make no apologies for targeting specific people if it makes our roads safer for the general public, and people on the list only have to worry if they continue to offend.”
