STEPHEN Harris enjoys giving back to the community in whatever way he could.
The Taylors Lakes resident spends every Monday night at the Keilor Downs police station signing important documentation for other residents.
Mr Harris is the president of the Western Region Honorary Justices Association and has been a Justice of the Peace for almost a decade.
“I thought it was a good idea to put something back into the community,” he said.
The Australian Taxation Officer said the volunteer position offered him the opportunity to work with the broader community and help people better understand legal documentation.
He said since the importance of security checks in recent years had become very important, the workload for justices of the peace had risen.
Mr Harris said it was a position most people could volunteer for, provided they had three reputable referees.
The group meets at least every few months and often has guest speakers including members of the Crime Investigation Unit, the dog squad and State Trustees.
