ALTONA Library and Learning Centre is one year old and celebrations are under way.
The centre has been a huge boost for library users in Hobsons Bay and an impressive 175,000 visitors have been through the doors since they were thrown open to the public last year.
A series of first birthday celebrations have been planned, including a disco, children’s birthday celebrations, exercise, meditation and reiki classes.
Mayor Leigh Hardinge said the library had already become a valued resource for local people of all ages.
“Since opening 12 months ago, the Altona Meadows Library and Learning Centre has loaned and renewed more than 263,500 items, attracted more than 2500 new members, and clocked up almost 15,00 hours of Internet time for the community.”
