SUNSHINE College students will be wearing their trackies to school for a good cause this May.
Tracky Dack Day in May will help the school raise awareness for the need for emergency support for kids in hospital.
The day is a major fund-raiser for TLC for kids – Australia’s only emergency response support for distressed kids in hospital and their families.
College speech pathologist Kristy Neilson said it was important for the school community to come together and raise awareness and funds for TLC for kids.
“We’ve got two students with a medical condition here who have been supported by TLC for kids,” Ms Neilson said.
“They’ve been in and out of hospital their whole lives.”
“It’s just a way to give back because the boys have received so much support from the organisation,” she said.
All three campuses of the school will take part in the Tracky Dack Day and students were encouraged to “Dack Up and Donate”.
But Ms Neilson said there would be no problem getting the students to come to school in their trackies.
“We have a strong community here and the students always love their casual clothes day,” Ms Neilson said.
Last year the CEO and founder of TLC for kids Tim Conolan visited the school and presented the students with a certificate for their efforts in organising the fund-raiser.
