BACCHUS Marsh residents are busily preparing for the 10,000 plus visitors who will converge on the town during the upcoming Strawberries and Cherries Trail Weekend next month.
The annual event, which celebrates the arrival of strawberry and cherry seasons in Bacchus Marsh, features an event trail passport with strawberry and cherry trail stops.
The day will also include fruit picking opportunities, display of local produce and wine, strawberry and cherry-themed menus, arts and more.
Visitors will have their trail passport stamped along the way and after securing a minimum 10 trail stamps will go into the draw to win an ultimate Bacchus Marsh experience valued at over $1000.
Bacchus Marsh Tourism Association president David Durham said last year’s event boasted a strong turnout from metropolitan areas and regional Victoria, as well as international visitors.
Last week, the association announced a record 28 strawberry and cherry trail stop locations, including the Village Bacchus Marsh, the Fruits of Life, Lal Lal Moorabool Photographic Group, Twisted by Design, St Bernard’s Parish Fete, Bacchus Marsh Gardening Club, the Courthouse Hotel and Bacchus Marsh Golf Club, who will host a $5000 hole in one competition on the Sunday.
This year’s event will also appeal to quilting enthusiasts with the Bacchus Marsh Friendship Quilters hosting an exhibition at The Laurels, along with the Blacksmith Cottage who will hold an ‘Airing of the Quilts’.
“The Strawberries and Cherries Trail encourages visitors to sample and taste many unique local experiences throughout Bacchus Marsh,” Mr Durham said.
“Our visitors will take home the memories of our beautiful event weekend, as well as multiple reasons to return on a regular basis over the following weeks and months.”
The event will begin on Saturday 16 November and continue on Sunday 17 November at the Bacchus Marsh Township. Visit www.visitbacchusmarsh.com.au or join the Facebook page Visit Bacchus Marsh for further details.
