FIVE environmental groups or projects in Hobsons Bay were named as finalists in this year’s Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities Awards.
Enviro Friends of Hobsons Bay, Altona Primary School, the Environmental Neighbourhood cluster, the Truganina Reserve Preservation Society and the Truganina Coastal Parklands Project were all nominated for awards in a variety of categories for their work in the local area.
Although not the eventual winners of the awards, nomination as a finalist was a “wonderful achievement” for the groups, said councillor Angela Altair.
Representatives from each of the groups will be presented with certificates at a future council meeting.
