THE annual Street SmART Art Auction will be held at the start of May.
Now in its fifth year, Street SmART is a program that works with Hobsons Bay and Wyndham youth to provide them a safe, supportive and legal environment to express themselves through graffiti/street style art.
Organiser Katherine Dine, who will also be exhibiting her work in the auction, said a wide variety of artists would be auctioned off to raise money for the program.
“Young artists have had the opportunity to exhibit in major exhibitions and public artworks, which is an excellent way of engaging them with their community,” Ms Dine said.
She said the event funds Street SmART workshops throughout the year, paying for paint, canvasses and boards.
“(This enables) our young artists to express themselves in a safe and creative environment.”
Patrons are invited to bid in a wide range of artworks from prominent local artists including Larissa MacFarlane, Giovanna Inserra, John La Mude and Mesh.
There will also be works from young up and coming Street SmART artists created with spray paint who attends the workshops.
The Woods St Arts Space in Laverton will host the event on 3 May, from 6.30pm.
