YOUNG Keilor residents Stella and Lily are big fans of their grandfather’s bright blue classic Corvette car.
“This is my car when I grow up,” Lily, who will soon turn 12 years old, proudly told Star last week.
The 1973 Sting-ray L-82 Corvette, owned by their grand-dad Barry Davies, is an impressive vehicle.
Mr Davies will show the Corvette, and his red Z-3 BMW, at the Rotary Club of Keilor’s seventh annual Car and Vintage Bike Show on Sunday 5 May.
The event is the club’s biggest yearly fund-raising event and profits from the show go directly to several Rotary projects.
In recent years, the show has raised funds for a day chemotherapy chair at the Olivia John Cancer and Wellness Centre and Good Citizen awards for graduating students at Brimbank primary schools.
“I love cars and classic cars, of any age and style, and the environment at the Vintage Car and Vintage Bike Show,” Mr Davies said.
Cars including Holdens, Fords, Chevrolets and Chryslers will be on display at the show.
Norm Draper from the Rotary Club of Keilor said this year the show was part of the Keilor 150 program and has received support from Brimbank City Council.
The event has also gained the support of Keilor businesses including the Old Keilor Hotel, where the car show is held.
“The pub last year donated 12 $50 vouchers as prizes,” Mr Draper said.
This year’s car show will feature around 20 market stalls, a food court, jumping castle and face-painting for children and the Western Region Concert Band.
The Rotary Club of Keilor 2013 Car and Vintage Bike Show will be at the corner of the Old Calder Highway and Arabin St, Keilor, from 9am to 1.30pm on Sunday 5 May (exhibitor entry from 7.30am at Arabin St).
Admission: Cars $20, bikes $10, spectators $5 (under 16 free).
