THE OLD and new have combined at Keilor Village Pre-school to produce a perfect playground project – including the cubby house occupied by Jemma, Makeylar, Thomas and Owen.
As part of the Rotarians at Work Day on Sunday 21 April, Rotary Club of Keilor members joined parents at the kindergarten to take part in a Keilor 150 legacy project.
With support from Bunnings Taylors Lakes, the Rotarians and families donated their time to upgrade the kindergarten’s grounds.
They landscaped the garden, installed a watering system, planted fruit trees, repainted equipment and fitted out new play equipment including a pretend rowboat.
Brimbank City Council chairman John Watson thanked the Rotary Club for its work.
“Keilor 150 is all about bringing the community together,” he said.
“Throughout 2013, Keilor 150 offers a diverse range of events and activities celebrating the 150th anniversary of local government in Keilor.
“This project is an excellent example of how community groups can work with the wider community to achieve beneficial outcomes for everyone.
“This project will be a lasting legacy of not only Keilor 150 celebrations but for 50 years of Rotary as well.
“The council is delighted with the works at the pre-school, which has brightened the centre for students, parents and teachers to enjoy – congratulations to everyone involved on a job well done.”
