Blues legend comes to town

LEGENDARY blues musician Charlie Musselwhite will perform in Williamstown on Sunday 4 November.
The harmonica master will appear the Williamstown RSL with support from Rory Ellis at 2pm.
Mr Musselwhite will be at the RSL thanks to the Way Out West Roots Music Club Inc. which brings international touring artists and Australia’s best roots musicians to Williamstown.
Mr Musselwhite was born in Mississippi and raised in Memphis before becoming a ground-breaking recording artist since the 1960s.
He is a seven-time Grammy nominee, an eight-time Living Blues award winner and a 27-time Blues Music award winner.
In 2010 Mr Musselwhite was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. He has also collaborated with such illustrious performers as Eddie Vedder, Tom Waits, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Gov’t Mule, INXS, Mickey Hart, George Thorogood and John Lee Hooker.
Over the past 43 years Mr Musselwhite has released over 30 albums and last year he also featured on Cyndi Lauper’s Memphis Blues album.
In the same year Mr Musselwhite’s own record The Well was nominated for the Best Traditional Blues Album category at the Grammys.
One of the songs on the album, Sad And Beautiful World, was a duet with legendary singer Mavis Staples.
