FORMER St Albans Secondary College student Andy Lieu has left his mark on his high school.
The 18-year-old, who recently completed his VCE, won an award for his short story, which outlined the benefits of sustainable living.
The St Albans resident, who hopes to study bio medicine next year, received $1000 from Stambo’s that is set to go towards developing a sustainable garden on school premises.
“The piece described the way our school could benefit from developing a sustainable garden,” Lieu said.
“I was really happy when I found out, and hopefully we can use the money to develop a garden with the produce to be used in the canteen.”
The enthusiastic teenager encouraged other teenagers to think of ways to protect their surrounding environment and said writing the piece had given him a whole new outlook on the benefits of looking after the local habitat.
He said he hoped he could continue his work in the future.
